Teams of students from around eastern Iowa and western Illinois will meet on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Putnam Museum and Science Center, Davenport, to kick off the 2025-2026 season of FIRST LEGO League Challenge.
The FIRST LEGO League, a competitive youth robotics program, will begin with a kickoff at 8 a.m. and end at 12:05 p.m. While the event is free of charge, all attendees are required to pre-register. For more information and to register, visit here.
The event provides a fun and interactive way to learn about FIRST, attend coding workshops, view robotics displays, and explore archaeological-themed activities provided by the Putnam Museum.
The theme of the 2025-2026 FIRST LEGO season, UNEARTHED encourages teams to use their collaboration, science, engineering, and technology skills to uncover the past to discover the future. Teams will identify a problem faced by archaeologists and propose a solution. They will also design, build, and program robots made entirely from LEGO.
The event is organized by the non-profit Quad City Engineering and Science Council in collaboration with Iowa State University – Engineering Outreach and Talent Development as the
Program Delivery Organization for Iowa FIRST LEGO League, as well as the Putnam Museum, 1717 W. 12th St.
FIRST is a global organization focused on science, technology, engineering and math with more than 650,000 students involved internationally. Its Lego League robotics programs help students develop technical, team-building, leadership and problem-solving skills while fostering self-confidence.
