Pancheros gets ready to open in Bettendorf

Pancheros Mexican Grill will reach 27 locations in Iowa as its nationwide expansion efforts continue with the opening of a new Bettendorf restaurant.

That Pancheros location will be at 5273 Competition Drive in the northern edge of the city known as The Plex area. It is scheduled to open Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Restaurant  co-owners Doug Ormsby and Dan Sacco will advance a decades-long partnership by opening their third Pancheros restaurant in the up-and-coming region of Bettendorf.

“The Bett Plex area is booming with new business and residential developments, so bringing the Pancheros concept we’ve mastered over 20 years to locals and visitors of Bettendorf made perfect sense for our team,” Mr. Ormsby said in a news release. “We saw an ideal opportunity on the right side of Middle Road and wanted this Iowa-staple to be a part of the area’s growth.”

Pancheros Mexican Grill offers Burritos Better Built – incorporating fresh-pressed tortillas, homemade queso and high-quality ingredients mixed using BOB the Tool, a signature brand device designed to create equally balanced bites. The brand also offers bowls, tacos, vegetarian and vegan options and more.

The Bettendorf Pancheros restaurant spans an approximate 2,400 square feet space and will feature a second make-line – a key element integrated into many Pancheros restaurants nationwide.

The new Pancheros will open in a section of northern Bettendorf that continues to grow and attract more businesses. Dozens of other businesses have opened around the TBK Bank Sports Complex. Some of those new or in-the-works businesses include: a new $18 million SpringHill Suites by Marriott now under construction; Iron Tee Golf; and ORA, which is building a new $50 million state-of-the-art clinic and outpatient surgery center. A second sports building also is under construction. The 112,000-square-foot building will cost about $13 million and is being built next to Iron Tee.

Pancheros will celebrate the Bettendorf expansion of the brand and business model with a $1 burrito event starting Tuesday, Oct. 15, featuring a giveaway of 2,500 codes for $1 burritos for loyalty members and a raffle for free burritos for a year.

Guests can enter code “DOLLABETT” on the Pancheros app to receive a $1 burrito, valid through Monday, Oct.  21. Guests who download the app will receive rewards and promotion opportunities throughout the year.

Founded in Iowa City in 1992, Pancheros is a fan favorite in the Mexican, fast-casual space. Pancheros has grown to more than 75 locations across 13 states – including Quad Cities locations in Davenport and Moline – with a robust franchising program.
