New winter festival coming to Clinton, Fulton

CLINTON, Iowa – A new arts festival – called “Embrace the Winter” – is coming to Clinton, Iowa, and Fulton, Illinois.

The three-day art fest will feature more than 50 events and activities between the two communities from Friday through Sunday, Feb. 2-4. 

“We will have something for every age, stage and walk of life,” said Lesley Webster, director of Placemaking & Tourism for Grow Clinton.

Here is a look at some of the activities:

  • Friday Night Lights: Fire rings for warmth and community in Clinton and Fulton from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2.
  • Community Glow: People will bring glow sticks to the riverfront in Fulton in an effort to set a world record at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.
  • The 43rd annual B-rry Scurry race, hosted by Clinton Community College, starting at noon Saturday, Feb. 3. This event raises funds for Clinton Community College’s Paul B. Sharer Foundation to provide scholarships. The race after-party will occur at Legend’s Sports Bar & Grill in Clinton.
  • Snow Trek: Cross country skiing and snowshoeing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.
  • Student Art Show: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Eagle Point Park, Clinton.
  • Slip & Slide Bike Ride: This will be at noon Sunday, Feb. 4. Meet at the Jensen Oil & Bicycle Station.
  • Sunday evening, Feb. 4, will conclude with a community-wide Candlelight Memorial Service. Details on that location are still being worked out and will be available online.
