The new $17 million SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel in northern Bettendorf is scheduled to open Friday, March 7, according to the hotel owners, Frontier Hospitality Group (FHG) of Bettendorf.The hotel is located at 5235 Competition Drive near the TBK Bank Sports Complex and Iron Tee Golf in the vastly growing Plex area of Bettendorf. It has 86 rooms and four stories. FHG officials gave the green light for the hotel one week earlier than scheduled due to the fact the hotel is ready for guests.SpringHilll will feature a meeting space suited for up to 50 people, an indoor pool, expansive fitness room and free hot breakfast served daily. The hotel will offer beer, wine and pre-packaged mixed drinks sold in the hotel’s market area. The hotel décor is fresh, comfortable and modern and includes West Elm guest room furniture, according to FHG.The new $17 million SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel in northern Bettendorf is scheduled to open Friday, March 7, according to the hotel owners, Frontier Hospitality Group (FHG) of Bettendorf. CREDIT DAVE THOMPSONA groundbreaking ceremony for the new hotel was held last May. During that ceremony, Frontier leaders outlined these details and features of the new Springhill Suites:
The hotel will have 86 rooms with separate areas in each room to sleep, work and relax.
Each room will have a trundle sofa daybed, microwave and mini-fridge.
Amenities will include a free breakfast, indoor swimming pool, fitness room, a meeting room and a 24-hour market.
The building will span 58,640 square feet.
Partners on the project include Davenport-based Russell, IMEG Corp. and Ramaker. This is the ninth project Russell is completing with FHG.The SpringHill Suites ribbon cutting and grand opening event on Tuesday, April 1, will feature dignitaries from the City of Bettendorf, Visit Quad Cities, and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.
100+ construction jobs
More than 100 construction jobs and 24 permanent jobs are a result of this investment.Overall Frontier has invested more than $77 million in Quad Cities hotels in the last decade. It now offers more than 500 hotel rooms, in total, in the region.“The opening of the new SpringHill Suites is happening at the same time we are celebrating our 75th anniversary as a company,” Dan Huber, owner and CEO of Frontier Hospitality Group, said in a news release. “ What a fantastic way to kick-off our year-long celebration of three-quarters of a century in the hospitality industry in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.”FHG was founded 75 years ago by I.L. and Virginia Baker in Clinton, Iowa, in 1950.The new hotel is one of many business projects in the works near the TBK Bank Sports Complex that will bring in that out-of-town money. Last March, ORA Orthopedics announced it will build a new $50 million, state-of-the-art clinic and outpatient surgery center in the area. A few of the other developments include: Bettendorf Family Dental recently opened; a new 288-unit apartment home complex known as Authentix Bettendorf will start construction soon; a new $12 million indoor sports facility started construction; a new Jersey Mike’s Subs sandwich shop opened in April; and the Iron Tee Golf entertainment facility opened for business last spring.
