WALCOTT, Iowa – A new book is coming out in time to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Iowa 80 truckstop at Walcott.
The book, titled “Iowa 80: Celebrating 60 Years of Serving America,” will be available at this week’s 45th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, which is Thursday through Saturday, July 11-13. After that, the book can be purchased in the Gift Store at Iowa 80 Truckstop, Interstate 80 at Exit 284, Walcott.
This is one of three biography-style coffee table books that have been published by the Iowa 80. The book “The Perfect Spot” was published in honor of the 40th anniversary in 2004 and the book “Big! The World’s Largest Truckstop” was published in 2014 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Iowa 80.
The new tome is a full-color book containing 84 pages of stories, historical photos, and the history of the Iowa 80 and other affiliated companies, such as Kenly 95 Petro, Joplin 44 Petro, Truckomat, and CAT Scale.
The book also features some stories from the restoration shop of the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum and the history behind the museum, which is also located on the grounds of the World’s Largest Truckstop and free to the public.
“It’s a beautiful book, and really showcases our history and highlights our dedication to serving the trucking and traveling public,” said Heather DeBaillie, Iowa 80 Truckstop, vice president of marketing.
