Moline to host mayor’s March 14 State of the City address

Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati will present her 2022 State of the City address on Monday, March 14, at the downtown Spotlight Theatre & Event Center.

This year’s event at the venue located at 1800 7th Ave., Moline, will be open to the public.

The mayor also selected the Spotlight Theatre as the site for this year’s address to recognize the venue’s prime example of infill development and reuse and because of its proximity to the Interstate 74 redevelopment corridor. The area, which will include the space within the old I-74 bridge footprint, will be the city’s largest public-private development since the John Deere Commons was created in a once industrial area of downtown.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. The mayor will present her address “People, Possibilities and Progress” at 10 a.m. That will be followed by short addresses from Moline City Administrator Bogdan “Bob” Vitas and Renew Moline President and CEO Alex Elias.

Area vendors will be on hand to sell baked goods and coffee. Guests also are invited to visit the shops in The Market, an entrepreneurial marketplace also located in the former Scottish Rite Cathedral.
