After the rave reviews for last summer’s smash hit Moline 150 Sesquicentennial celebration, the City of Moline is ready to do it all again this summer.

As planning progresses for this summer’s encore, organizers are seeking Quad Citians’ help in finding a new, more appropriate, name and one that will better suit what they expect to become “an ANNUAL party featuring music and art in the heart of downtown Moline.”

The city already has budgeted for this year’s party. But according to the online link for suggesting a new name here, the original Moline 150 name that refers to the city’s 150th birthday “was a very date-specific event name.”

Organizers added: “We tried coming up with a new name, but hey, you know how government committee meetings go. So now we are turning to you, the fine people of Moline (and the Quad Cities in general) who helped us name our snowplows to come up with a great name that will stand the test of time.”

The snowplow contest, held last November contest, resulted in these clever choices for the city’s fleet:

  • Ice Breaker.
  • Fast and Flurryous.
  • Plower Ranger.
  • Darth Blader.
  • Buzz Iceclear.
  • Ctrl Salt Delete.
  • Lightning McClean.
  • Big Le-Plow-Ski.

More than bragging rights are at stake for the Quad Citian who cooks up the new moniker for this year’s incarnation of last year’s Moline 150 party.

“When the survey ends, we will pick the best selection and the person who nominates the eventual winner will receive a VIP package to the 2023 festival,” the website promises.

In addition to submitting your festival nominations here, the festival organizers are asking voters to answer these two questions:

  • What did you like best about the 2022 Moline 150th celebration?
  • What could we have done better last year to make for a more enjoyable festival experience?
