LivWell Cares offers holiday meal delivery to Scott County seniors

LivWell CARES, a Davenport based nonprofit organization, is taking over this year’s low-income senior holiday meal delivery program for Scott County seniors.

This program will provide hot holiday meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day for seniors in need.

Sodexo, the food service operations of St. Ambrose University, will again provide the volunteers to cook and package the individual meals.

With other free Thanksgiving meal programs not being held this year, it’s more important than ever to keep this holiday meal program alive for seniors.

LivWell CARES is currently coordinating emergency fundraising to cover the cost of the meals. With the generous support and donations from the community, it anticipates delivering about 800 hot meals to seniors in need on those holidays.

The cost of this program is estimated to be at least $6,000.

“We’re determined to keep this worthy project alive so seniors who might not otherwise have a hot meal during the holidays will be able to experience some holiday cheer,” said Rhonda Halterman, owner of LivWell Seniors and founder of LivWell CARES.
