Legislative Coffee meetings set in Camanche and DeWitt

CLINTON, Iowa – A series of Legislative Coffee meetings will be held in Camanche and DeWitt throughout the 2024 legislative session.

Grow Clinton and DeWitt Chamber and Development Company are hosting Legislative Coffees on select Saturdays. They will be held on Jan. 20, Feb. 24, March 23 and April 27.

Clinton County’s state officials will chair the public forums on the latest happenings at the capitol and be available to answer policy questions.

During these dates, meetings will begin at 9.a.m. at Camanche City Hall. Iowa Sen. Chris Cournoyer (R-LeClaire), State Rep. Tom Determann (R-Clinton), and State Rep. Norlin Mommsen (R-DeWitt) will meet with the public until 10 a.m. Then at 11 a.m., the three will host another panel at DeWitt Community Hall. The public is invited, and no registration is required.

“These forums allow the public to engage with their elected officials. Some say it’s because of the caucus process, but whatever the reason, it’s an Iowa tradition that our local representatives open themselves and the process up to the public,” said Matt Parbs, vice president of Community and Economic Development at Grow Clinton. “Please attend the most conveniently located forum and join the democratic process.”

The Camanche City Hall is located at 818 7th Ave. The DeWitt Community Center is located at 510 10th St. In addition, the forum at Camanche City Hall will be broadcast live on their YouTube.

At the forums, questions from Clinton County residents are given priority. In addition, attendees are asked to write their questions down and these questions are given priority. Elected officials make opening and closing remarks as well.
