Kimberly Crest Veterinary Hospital & Specialty Services in Davenport will soon have a new business home and new name.

The veterinary business, currently located at 1423 E. Kimberly Road, is moving to a new 13,000-square-foot building that will be built near the 53rd Street-Eastern Avenue intersection.

Kimberly Crest expects to move to its new home in the fall or winter of next year. Once at the new site, the business will be known as the Creekside Veterinary Hospital & Referral Center.

“The new facility is going to allow us to be able to accommodate more patients. We are currently being limited by space. We will continue our current services, and will plan to add services in the future,” Dr. Laura A. Bahns, a veterinarian and owner of Kimberly Crest since January 2021, told the QCBJ.

She added that the name change will not be due to an ownership change, but will reflect the fact the business is relocating and no longer on Kimberly Road.

In addition to the name change, the animal care business will likely be hiring more employees. Currently, Kimberly Crest has 30 employees. “We will be hiring in all areas at the new facility,” said Dr. Bahns, who is an Iowa State University graduate.

Kimberly Crest has five vets on staff, according to the business website.

The new business building will be built by RWE Design Build, based in Downers Grove, Illinois. A short video of the project can be found here.

The new building’s address will be 1301 E. 53rd St., according to a post on RWE’s Facebook page. The location is on the south side of 53rd Street, near the Steel Plow Burger Company.

Kimberly Crest originated on Harrison Street, but moved to Kimberly Road in 1969, according to information on the business website.
