Daniel Sheridan, the longtime leader of Davenport Junior Theatre, will join United Way Quad Cities as its new senior vice president of community impact, United Way announced in a news release today, Oct. 2.

In his new post, Mr. Sheridan will lead the organization’s efforts to achieve its Rise United 2030 goals, aimed at improving education, financial stability and health outcomes for individuals and families across the Quad Cities, the agency said.

Mr. Sheridan brings 16 years of experience at Davenport Parks and Recreation’s Junior Theatre program. As its performing arts supervisor he empowered young people through the arts and helped transform the organization.

In his new role with United Way, he will guide strategic efforts to address critical community needs, working closely with local nonprofits, business leaders, policymakers and volunteers to ensure resources are effectively mobilized for lasting change.

“Daniel’s ability to build strong relationships and his passion for helping others make him a perfect fit for United Way,” Rene Gellerman, United Way of the Quad Cities president and CEO, said in the release. “His leadership and vision will be instrumental in driving impactful initiatives that strengthen our community and create lasting change.”

Mr. Sheridan’s focus at United Way will be on uniting people and resources to create pathways for success in youth opportunity and education, financial security and workforce, and health care access.

He will also lead strategic collaborations around funding investments to ensure they drive meaningful change and directly advance United 2030 community goals. United Way said Mr. Sheridan’s leadership will maximize efforts in volunteerism, advocacy and partnerships, helping to build a brighter future for the entire Quad Cities region.

I am a mission-driven person who is passionate about serving the Quad Cities. I look forward to working with the dedicated team and a committed community to drive meaningful change.”

Mr. Sheridan will play a key role in setting the strategic direction of United Way’s community impact work. That includes such initiatives as United for Schools, free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and one-on-one reading mentorship through Read United, the release said.

He also will oversee coordination of United Way’s grant-making process, ensuring funding aligns with community goals and delivers measurable outcomes. To learn more about United Way Quad Cities and its mission go here.
