“Golfers are a hardy bunch. They’re always looking for the newest things in golf.” That's according to Chet Hendrickson, the owner of the newest golf entertainment venue in the region – X Golf Quad Cities at 2574 Middle Road, Bettendorf.
X Golf, which opened for business on Friday, Nov. 29, is an entertainment facility featuring eight state-of-the-art golf simulators, a full bar, menu items and other fun features.
“I hope people come in here and are surprised by the size of the place … and blown away by the technology,” said Mr. Hendrickson, a couple of days before X Golf’s opening day on Friday.
Much of that technology centers on the simulators at X Golf.
“X Golf’s state-of-the-art indoor golf simulators offer players unparalleled accuracy and realism through a combination of camera systems, infrared lasers, impact sensors and advanced gaming software. … X Golf is the most accurate and comprehensive indoor golf simulator in the world,” according to the company’s website.
In addition to the simulator technology, X Golf interior design will offer its guests a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. “The design and shape matter,” added Mr. Hendrickson.
Much of that design centers on artwork covering many of X Golf’s walls. It includes several framed covers of “Sports Illustrated” magazine (all golf-related covers, of course), photos of famous golfers, a few Quad Cities images -- such as John Deere equipment -- and golfing scenes from movies, such as scenes from “Caddy Shack.”
Shayne Shepherd, general manager of X Golf, said he hopes the new customers are impressed with the look and technology X Golf is bringing to the Quad Cities’ golf scene.
There’s also a fireplace, big TV screen, music and games.
“I want our new customers to be impressed with how big our space is and how user friendly the technology is. First impressions are everything and we hope to deliver a great first impression to the community,” he added.
Mr. Shepherd called the opening two days of business at X Golf a success with the business attracting big crowds from the community on Friday and Saturday.
The community is the reason X Golf decided to open the business in Bettendorf. Mr. Hendrickson said he and his business partner, John Low, did a lot of research on the area and liked what they saw – an area that is growing and has a lot of golfers.
“Everybody’s very eager and excited about the X Golf opening,” he added.
