Illinois state senators headline QC Chamber event

The trio of Illinois state senators who represent the Quad Cities will be featured in the latest installment of the Quad Cities Chamber’s 2023 Legislative Event series from 8-9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the Vibrant Arena at the Mark.

Registration for Meet Your Illinois State Senators opens at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and networking before the program kicks off at 8 a.m. Tickets are $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

Expected to attend are:

State Sen. Neil Anderson, R-Andalusia, Illinois, who now represents the redrawn 47th Illinois Senate District. The Moline firefighter had for years represented the 36th State Senate District, but Mr. Anderson was drawn out of the district in the remap. He now represents the 47th Senate District after running unopposed in that redrawn district which includes chunks of Henry and Mercer counties in the Quad Cities and points south.

MIKE HALPIN

State Sen. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, who was elected Nov. 8 to represent the 36th Illinois Senate District. The attorney who also was a young aide to the late Congressman Lane Evans, had represented Illinois House District 72  since January 2017 before opting to run for the redrawn senate district he now leads. His new 36th Senate District includes a large swath of the Quad Cities metro, including the City of Rock Island, he formerly represented.

State Sen. Win Stoller, R-Germantown, who was reelected to represent the 37th Senate District on Nov. 8. He has held that senate seat since he succeeded retiring state Sen. Chuck Weaver, R-Peoria in 2021. His district includes all or parts of Bureau, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall Mercer, Peoria, Stark and Woodford counties.

The Legislative Event Series is designed to provide valuable insight and give members opportunities to advocate for policies that support QC businesses and learn the latest information about potential and pending legislation.

Previous 2023 events events have included a Jan. 20 panel featuring a Q&A with 15 bistate state federal and state lawmakers and a Feb. 10 forum headlined by five mayors who represent the metro Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities.
