DUBUQUE, Iowa – Honkamp, P.C., with operations in Davenport, has again been named as one of the Midwest’s top accounting firms by the industry publication Accounting Today.

The firm was named a 2024 Top 10 Midwest CPA firm in Accounting Today’s annual rankings. Honkamp is a CPA and business advisory group headquartered in Dubuque with nine office locations and about 300 employees.

Honkamp also remains the fastest-growing Iowa-based firm highlighted in the ranking, and the publication again listed Honkamp among its “Firms to Watch.”

“We enjoyed another year of strong growth in 2023. We continued to deliver premium services to both existing and new clients, and we added one of the St. Louis metro’s leading CPA firms, Schowalter & Jabouri, P.C.,” Honkamp President and CEO Katie Thomas said in a news release announcing the ranking.

Ms. Thomas added: “This success wouldn’t be possible without our talented staff and valued clients. In 2024, we intend to continue our growth and to make a difference in the communities that we serve.”

Honkamp Top 10 regular

Honkamp now has been named a Top 10 Midwest CPA firm by Accounting Today each year for more than a decade. The Midwest category is comprised of firms based in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The latest recognition comes as Honkamp is continuing to grow its footprint. One of the 20 largest CPA firms in the St. Louis metro area, Schowalter and Jabouri, merged into Honkamp in December. The move led to Honkamp’s first office location in Missouri.

The deal also marked the firm’s fourth acquisition in two years. Honkamp added Nigl Accounting LLP, based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in December 2021. Then in November 2022, it acquired Vaassen, Pluemer CPAs, LLC, of Platteville, Wisconsin, and the Cedar Falls, Iowa, office of Gosling & Co., P.C.

Founded in 1947, Honkamp’s clients range from privately held organizations to individuals and nonprofits. It specializes in industries that include construction and real estate, dental practices, home health care, restaurants, manufacturing and distribution.
