
The U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC) headquartered on Rock Island Arsenal, now is under new leadership after a change of command ceremony on Friday, July 19.
Brig. Gen. John “Brad” Hinson assumed command of ASC from Maj. Gen. David Wilson during the ceremony on Memorial Field. The event was presided over by Lt. Gen. Chris Mohan He is deputy commanding general and acting commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, ASC’s higher headquarters. The ASC is the logistics arm of AMC.
As ASC commanding genera, the primary logistics and supply hub for the U.S. Army, Mr. Hinson will ensure soldiers around the world are equipped with the right equipment at the right place and time, and in the right condition. If a soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it, communicates with it or eats it, ASC says it has a hand in getting it to them.
Mr. Hinson is ASC’s 13th commanding general since the command was established in October 2006. He also now serves as senior commander of Rock Island Arsenal.

Mr. Hinson most recently served as the commanding general of the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command. He also was assistant commanding general-Sustainment of the XVIII Airborne Corps in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
He was commissioned in the Quartermaster Corps upon graduation from Northwestern State University in 1992. He holds master’s degrees from the Air University and Eisenhower School National Defense University.
Combat deployments include three deployments to Iraq/Syria and four deployments to Afghanistan.
Mr. Hinson’s military education includes the Combined Logistics Advanced Course, the Air Force Command and General Staff College, and the Eisenhower School, National Defense University.
Mr. Wilson had been ASC’s commander the past year. He has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-9 (Installations) for the Headquarters of the Department of the Army at the Pentagon.
