Brent Gwaltney, Augustana College Class of 1984, an investor and renewable energy project advisor, is the newest member of the Augustana College Board of Trustees.
“We welcome Brent to our board, and we look forward to his contributions as we work on our new strategic plan, Bold and Boundless,” Augustana College President Andrea Talentino said in a Monday, Sept. 30, news release from the Rock Island liberal arts college.
“He knows firsthand the power of the transformational experience that happens on our campus, and will bring valuable insight from his successful career to help us strengthen that experience,” she added.
Mr. Gwaltney is an advisor to renewable energy projects – primarily blue hydrogen/ammonia – and an active private investor, the Augustana release said. He retired as the CEO of Consolidated Energy, Ltd., headquartered in Wollerau, Switzerland.
Consolidated Energy is the world’s second-largest producer of methanol and one of the world’s top producers of nitrogen products (ammonia and UAN) with operations in Trinidad and Tobago, United States and Oman.
Previously, Mr. Gwaltney was chief operating officer of Consolidated Energy’s USA business based in Houston and served as CEO of the company’s Beaumont, Texas-based Natgasoline joint venture during its construction, commissioning, and debt structuring.
He has spent the majority of his three-decade career involved in the management, construction, operation, and financing of world-scale petrochemical facilities, the release said.
