ALEDO, Ill. – A public meeting has been set next week to provide updates on an $11 million project that will convert a former Aledo school building into new residential housing.

Economic Growth Corporation (GROWTH) will make a presentation from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8, on the lower level of the VFW building, 106 Southwest Third Ave.

GROWTH will give an update on efforts to turn the former Aledo Junior High School into a 30-unit housing development called the Northside Lofts. During the meeting, GROWTH officials will present final versions of floor and site plans for the project, and discuss the planned amenities and energy-saving features.

The planned revisions are largely based on the initial community input generated at an Oct. 21 meeting. There, GROWTH unveiled its original plans for the former school building.

Since October, GROWTH has been successful in securing a redevelopment agreement with the City of Aledo and is working to submit its financing application to the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA).
