Get ready for red kettle season

It’s almost time for the Salvation Army red kettles in the Quad Cities.

The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettles campaign will launch in the Quad Cities at a kickoff event at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Hy-Vee store located at 4064 E. 53rd St. in Davenport.

During that event, the Salvation Army’s Love Beyond campaign will contribute the first funds to the Red Kettle drive. The goal of this year’s Red Kettle campaign will also be announced on Friday.

“The holiday season always brings added pressures and challenges to our local families and individuals in need, but the hardships of inflation make this year particularly difficult for families trying to make ends meet. All funds raised will be used for programs and services in the Quad Cities, and the public can contribute at any of the 40 QCA kettle locations with cash, checks, or with their smartphone, or online at DavenportRedKettle.org or MolineRedKettle.org,” according to Salvation Army Major Robert Doliber, Quad Cities coordinator.

Groups or individuals interested in bellringing can visit RegisterToRing.com or call (563) 324-4808 (Scott County) or (309) 764-2811 (Rock Island County). Families in need of Christmas assistance may apply through Nov. 23 by contacting the above numbers.

The Quad Cities Salvation Army 2021 Red Kettle Campaign exceeded its goal of raising $750,000. A total of $784,136 was received through Jan. 31, the nonprofit announced earlier this year.
