It’s still fishing season in the Quad Cities. A major fishing championship tournament will be held in Rock Island Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 10-12, according to Visit Quad Cities.

Tourism leaders announced this week that the 2024 Major League Fishing Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Regional Championships will be in the Quad Cities. This tournament will feature four of the 24 divisions across the country, with 160 boats (160 anglers and 160 co-anglers) competing on Mississippi River pools 13-17. Some participants will begin arriving for practice days beginning Saturday, Oct. 5.

This event is free to spectators. It is expected to bring a surge of bass fishing enthusiasts to the region. The competition not only showcases the Quad Cities’ beautiful riverfront but also local hospitality, solidifying the area as a premier destination for outdoor recreation, Visit QC said in a news release.

Anglers and co-anglers will compete for large cash prizes. Top performers earn opportunities to advance to the Toyota Series, Tackle Warehouse Invitationals, and ultimately the Bass Pro Tour.

The Phoenix Bass Fishing League offers weekend anglers some of the best payouts and advancement opportunities. Competitors will vie for top prizes, including substantial cash payouts, and the chance to join the ranks of professional bass fishing’s elite circuits.

Launch is at 7 a.m.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. on all three days at the Sunset Park Boat Ramp in Rock Island. The awards ceremony will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Volunteers will have the chance to get involved behind the scenes and experience the excitement up close. Click here to learn more and sign up.
