Figge Art Museum names new director of development

Patrick Downing of Davenport has been named the new director of development for the Figge Art Museum.

Mr. Downing, a resident of the Quad Cities since 2009, succeeds Sara Volz. He comes to the museum after three years as a director of development at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Prior to that role, he worked at West Music in Moline for 10 years as a certified piano consultant and institutional sales representative.

“The Figge Art Museum is a cultural beacon for the entire Quad Cities region and beyond,” said Mr. Downing in a news release. “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to combine my passion for the fine arts with my professional experiences, as well as to join the Figge team and represent this world-class museum.”

He is married with three sons, is a graduate of Western Illinois University where he earned a bachelor of music degree in music business with minors in broadcasting and marketing. He is a classically trained pianist and vocalist and active in the performing arts community throughout the Quad Cities.

“We are thrilled to have Patrick in this critical role at the museum and cannot wait to see him in action,” said Michelle Hargrave, Figge executive director and CEO, in a news release. “With his incredible talents he will be instrumental in helping the Figge continue to bring art and people together in the Quad Cities.”
