FEMA to test Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station emergency plans

The Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station at Cordova will be testing emergency response plans for the surrounding communities on Tuesday, July 12, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced.

Emergency response personnel from the states of Illinois and Iowa, Rock Island and Whiteside counties in Illinois and Scott and Clinton counties in Iowa will join the plant’s operator Constellation in the exercise.

The Joint Information Center (JIC), Constellation Headquarters, 4300 Winfield Road in Warrenville, will be exercising between the hours of approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

FEMA will evaluate the units of government during the exercise. It also will provide preliminary findings at a meeting at noon, Friday, July 15, at Quad Cities Station Training Building, 22710 206th Ave. N., Cordova, Illinois. The public and media may attend this meeting.
