Empowering Abilities, which rebranded from its former HDC name in 2023, provides high-quality services and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. With this strengthened leadership team, the organization is well-positioned to expand its reach, enhance program offerings, and foster greater inclusion and independence for those it serves, the release said.
The agency, headquartered at 3402 Hickory Grove Road in west Davenport, also provides community-based programs and essential resources that enhance daily living, employment opportunities, and overall well-being. Focused on accessibility and empowerment, Empowering Abilities works alongside individuals, families, and partners to create a more inclusive and supportive community.
Founded in 1969, Empowering Abilities was established through the merger of four organizations that provided similar services, following the recommendation of a citizens’ study. In November 2023, the organization transitioned from its Handicapped Development Center name to Empowering Abilities. At the time, leaders said the new name better reflects its evolving mission and commitment to person-centered support.
