Employers seek workers at QC Refugee & Immigrant Job Fair

Refugee and immigrant jobs

Area employers looking to fill and expand their workforces will have a chance to meet with new refugees and immigrants who now call the Quad Cities home at a job fair this week.

Employers can connect with jobseekers at a Refugee and Immigrant Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 18, at Scott Community College’s Urban Campus’ Community Room. The campus is located at 101 W. 3rd St., Davenport.

More than 30 Quad Cities employers will be on hand offering applications and interviews for open positions at their facilities. Jobseekers also will find community resources available to assist with interpreting, job training, transportation, childcare, education, housing and more.

Jobseekers are encouraged to bring several copies of their resume to share with employers they meet.

“This event will connect refugees, newcomers to our community, with quality employers who need dedicated employees and with resources to help them begin a new life here in the Quad-Cities,” Edgar Ramirez, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, said in a news release.

The event is being hosted in partnership with Iowa Bureau of Refugee Services, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, IowaWORKS, Quad-Cities Chamber of Commerce and World Relief.
