Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has announced the appointment of Jeremy Pickard as the vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Mr. Pickard’s tenure in the position will begin on June 1, EICC said in a news release Monday, April 8.
With more than two decades of dedicated service to EICC, Mr. Pickard has transitioned through various leadership roles, including business faculty, associate director of the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC), Muscatine Community College’s dean of Instruction, and most recently, as EICC’s dean of Agriculture, Business, and Professional Services.
“Dr. Pickard’s multi-faceted experience within EICC and his extensive involvement in collaborative initiatives with colleagues and external partners make him an exceptional choice for vice chancellor for Academic Affairs,” said EICC’s Interim Chancellor Liang Chee Wee. “His commitment to academic excellence, student success, and his vision for the future of education and career readiness align well with EICC’s mission.”
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Pickard has been instrumental in representing EICC on numerous projects, including the State of Iowa’s Transfer Majors Steering Committee, the Regional Planning Partnership for college and career readiness with K-12 partners, and the Higher Learning Commission’s Assessment Academy Team. His collaborative efforts with local businesses and industries on workforce development projects further underscore his dedication to fostering community partnerships, the release said.
“I am honored and excited to continue my journey with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges,” said Mr. Pickard. “EICC has been my home for over two decades, and I am deeply committed to our mission and values. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated faculty and staff to shape the future of education and empower our students to achieve their fullest potential.”
Scott Community College President Ann Lawler will continue to serve as the interim vice chancellor for Academic Affairs until Mr. Pickard assumes his new role. Ms. Lawler also will oversee the search for Mr. Pickard’s replacement as dean of Agriculture, Business, and Professional Services. EICC’s goal is to have the new appointment in place by summer.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Pickard on his well-deserved appointment,” Mr. Wee added. “His leadership will undoubtedly further enrich the academic experience for our students and support our faculty colleagues inside and outside the classroom.”
