Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has been named one of the Best Higher Ed Websites of 2024 by Modern Campus.
The recognition highlights the college’s commitment to an engaging, user-friendly, and accessible online experience for students and the community, the college district said in a news release.
EICC’s Marketing and Communications team dedicated nearly two years to a complete website redesign and rewrite, culminating in the launch of the new site in June 2023. The transformation focused on enhancing accessibility, improving navigation, and ensuring students could seamlessly explore programs, access resources, and take the next steps in their education.
The impact has been significant, EICC said. Comparing the last year of EICC’s previous website to the first year of the new site, the college saw:
- 129% increase in application link clicks.
- 77% increase in organic social traffic to the website.
- 3% increase in new users.
“We are honored to be recognized among the best higher education websites,” said Johnna Kerres, associate director for marketing and communications. “This redesign was about more than aesthetics – it was about creating a student-centered experience that makes information easy to find and understand. Seeing the measurable impact of our efforts and earning this recognition from Modern Campus is incredibly rewarding.”
The college district credited the transformation to the dedication of its marketing and communications team. Erin Snyder, chief communications officer, expressed gratitude for the team’s hard work, specifically recognizing Nicole Harrison, web and digital strategist; Dawn Neuses, content specialist; and Ms. Kerres.
“This recognition is a testament to the expertise of our team,” Ms. Snyder said. “Johnna’s leadership, combined with Nicole’s strategic vision for web development and Dawn’s skillful content creation, played a pivotal role in shaping a website that truly serves our students and community. Their hard work ensured that EICC’s website is not only visually engaging but also highly functional, accessible, and student-focused.”
