Dry Goods, a contemporary fashion retailer owned by Von Maur, is continuing its national expansion with plans to open five new locations by the end of 2024.
The boutique retailer announced in a news release Thursday, June 13, that the expansion also will mark the Dry Goods company’s entrance into three new states – Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia.
“We are thrilled with Dry Goods' continued success as we introduce the brand to new, fashion-forward shoppers in these exciting markets,” Melody Wright, Von Maur’s chief operating officer, said in the release. “As we continue to expand into new states, we look forward to sharing our store with even more customers. Our goal is always to provide updated, on-trend clothing and accessories that allow shoppers to show their personal style at an accessible price.”
The new market locations will include: Cherry Hill Mall in Cherry Hills, New Jersey.; Christiana Mall in Newark, Delaware and Short Pump Town Center in Richmond, Virginia. In addition, Dry Goods will open one of its new locations this month at Hamilton Place in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and opened another in April at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
When all five new stores are opened, Dry Goods USA – a subsidiary of Von Maur – will have increased its presence to 84 store locations in 24 states. Among the other locations are Dry Goods stores at Davenport’s NorthPark Mall as well as Coralville, Cedar Rapids and West Des Moines in Iowa and Peoria, Illinois.
The store expansion comes on the heels of Von Maur’s announcement in May that it will invest more than $100 million over the next five years to complete an extensive, multi-phased renovation of a majority of its brick-and-mortar Von Maur department stores.
Von Maur is a family-owned department store company with its headquarters and an e-commerce center in Davenport, where the company began more than 150 years ago. In fact, the Dry Goods name pays homage to the original Von Maur Dry Goods founded in 1872 in downtown Davenport.
The new modern Dry Goods first opened in 2010 in Aurora, Illinois. According to its website, the brand was designed to bring Von Maur’s tradition of old-fashioned customer service to a new generation of customers. The retailer offers a wide-range of selections for shoppers looking for the latest in contemporary fashion, including clothing, jewelry and accessories.
"We are excited to meet our new customers and provide them with the latest fashion trends and a special shopping experience in our beautiful store,” Lindsay Caltagirone, vice president of stores for Dry Goods, said in the release.
As its national footprint continues to expand, Dry Goods also is looking to hire new associates to join its team. Across its 81 stores, Dry Goods employs about 1,000 associates. Each store has between eight and 12 employees.
According to the company, Dry Goods offers a fun and fast-paced work environment where people can start and develop their career with like-minded fashionistas. The potential for career growth is strong with the expansion into new markets. For more information on Dry Goods careers, visit www.drygoodsusa.com.
