A new DG Market store is now open for business at the ultra-busy Five Points neighborhood in Davenport.

Dollar General officials announced in a news release on Monday, March 25, that its new location at 1777 North Division St. is open. The store is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

The new DG Market format features an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables as well as the same categories, brands and products in many Dollar General stores, according to the news release.

The new DG Market is in the former CVS Pharmacy building located at Five Points in Davenport. Work on converting the former CVS building started earlier this year.

“We are excited to provide Davenport residents with our new DG Market format and look forward to welcoming customers to our new location,” Matthew Simonsen, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, said in the Monday news release.  “At Dollar General, we are committed to serving our customers with a pleasant shopping experience and strive to be a good corporate citizen,” he added. “The new DG Market format will provide the Davenport community with closer access to fresh and healthier foods and a convenient location to purchase the items they want and need at everyday low prices. We hope our customers will enjoy the new store.”

To commemorate the opening of its new location, Dollar General will donate 100 new books to a nearby elementary school to benefit students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade.

The store is expected to employ approximately 10-15 people, depending on the individual needs of the store. Applicants can review available positions and apply online at www.dollargeneral.com/careers

The company provides employees with competitive wages, training and development programs and benefits including day-one telemedicine eligibility as well as health insurance coverage options, 401(K) savings and retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid parental leave and adoption assistance to eligible employees.

Until recently, the site of the new DG store was home to a CVS Pharmacy. In October, CVS officials announced the company would close two of its Quad Cities stores – one at 2250 41st St., Moline, on Nov. 29, and its store at Davenport’s Five Points on Thursday, Dec. 7.
