DeWitt celebrates a Hometown Christmas Dec. 5-7 

DEWITT, Iowa – The City of DeWitt will host a Hometown Christmas Celebration over the Dec. 5-7 weekend. 

The schedule of events will include:

Thursday, Dec. 5 –  A family movie at the DeWitt Operahouse Theatre at 7 p.m. featuring “Daddy’s Home 2” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Themed drinks, beer and wine will be available with donation. Movie admission is $5.

Saturday Dec. 7

A Children’s Carnival will be from 9-11 a.m. Visit with Santa at Emmaus Road Church and enjoy carnival games and prizes. Games are for children in 6th grade and younger.

A children’s movie, “The Christmas Chronicles,” will be shown at the DeWitt Operahouse Theatre at 11:45 a.m. A hot dog meal will be sponsored by the DeWitt Nite Lions. Movie and lunch are free with a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to benefit the Referral Center. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. Space is limited. 

The Lighted Parade will be at 5 p.m.  No registration is needed to participate. Parade participants should line up between 4:30-5 p.m. between Journey Fitness and the DeWitt Pet Hospital. 

Christmas Tree Lighting: Immediately following the parade, witness the magic of the season as we illuminate DeWitt’s Christmas Tree, located in front of the Hausbarn.

Live Window Walk stroll through our enchanting downtown as local businesses transform their windows into festive displays. Be sure to check out the Gingerbread House Contest, located inside DeWitt Bank & Trust Co. and vote for your favorite! From 5 – 7 p.m.

Horse and Wagon Rides 5 to 7 p.m. Take a free, leisurely ride through town in a horse-drawn wagon. It’s a charming experience brought to you by Fieldstone of DeWitt, a WellSpire Community, Welton Ridge Farms, and DeWitt Veterinary Clinic.

Free Holiday Meal 5 – 7 p.m. Located inside the Community Center provided by the DeWitt Nite Lions.

Live Nativity Scene 5 – 7 p.m. Located outside, next to the Community Center brought to you by DeWitt United Methodist Church.

Vendor Market from 5 – 7 p.m. Stroll through some of our amazing vendors along 10th Ave.
