As the business district near the TBK Sports Complex in northern Bettendorf continues to grow, the latest business to call it home is the newly named Dental Care at The Plex.The dental practice, located at 5201 Competition Drive, opened for business on Tuesday, Nov. 12. On Friday, Dec. 6, it received an official welcome with a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by about 30 people from the business community.

“Thank you for investing in Bettendorf,” said Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher during the brief ceremony.That investment is in a dental practice that offers preventive oral health, restorative dentistry, dental implants and other services. Currently, the office has 16 employees, but that might change. Jamiam Haser, the office manager, said that the business is growing and she expects more employees to be hired as the growth continues. In fact, one of its newest employees, Dr. Magan Farmer, joined the practice in September.That business growth is the reason the new dental practice recently set up shop in The Plex. Dr. Tiffany Smith said her dental practice – formerly known as Duck Creek Family Dental – was located at 888 Middle Road, Bettendorf, for about nine years. “We were growing, and there was just no place to grow (at our old location.) So, we decided to come here. … Besides, this place is a lot closer to my home,” Dr. Smith said with a laugh.Dental Care at The Plex is located in one of the new retail business buildings near the intersection of Middle Road and Forest Grove Drive. It’s located a few doors down from Jersey's Mike sub sandwich restaurant and Pancheros.The new dental office has opened in the Bettendorf area where dozens of other businesses have opened around the TBK Bank Sports Complex. Some new or in-the-works businesses include: a new $18 million SpringHill Suites by Marriott now under construction; Iron Tee Golf; and ORA, which is building a new $50 million state-of-the-art clinic and outpatient surgery center. A second sports building also is under construction. The 112,000-square-foot building will cost about $13 million and is being built next to Iron Tee.“It’s all happening here at The Plex,” said Ms. Haser.Dental Care at The Plex is open weekends and closed on weekends.
