The drive, which will run from Monday to Friday, Aug. 5 to 9, seeks to collect essential school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and more. Community members are encouraged to drop off their donations between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at any Davenport

Fire Station. All donations will go to Davenport Community School District students in need.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Davenport Fire Department for this important initiative,” Davenport Superintendent T.J. Schneckloth said in a news release.

“Ensuring our students have the necessary supplies to thrive academically is a priority for us. This partnership exemplifies the spirit of community and generosity that defines Davenport,” he said, adding “Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of our students.”

Davenport Fire Chief Mike Carlsten added “The Davenport Fire Department is committed to supporting our community in every way we can. By partnering with the Davenport Community School District on this school supply drive, we aim to ensure that all children have what they need to succeed. We believe that when the community comes together, our children benefit.”

As the third largest school district in Iowa with nearly 12,000 students, the Davenport Community School District employs more than 2,000 education professionals.
