The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District in partnerships with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are hosting an  open house Tuesday, April 30, to discuss plans for Phase II of an ecosystem restoration project in Lower Pool 13 of the Mississippi River.

The ecosystem restoration open house will be from 5-7 p.m. at Eagle Point Lodge, 4101 N. 3rd St., Clinton.

The Lower Pool 13 Phase II Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project area includes a 4,000-acre wetland complex with shallow lakes, emergent vegetation, managed moist soil areas, and braided channels surrounded by degrading riparian timber. The ecosystem restoration project boundaries lie within the Green Island Wildlife Management Area. It is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

During the open house, a team of subject matter experts will provide an overview of the project. They also will cover options for restoration and enhancement of the Lower Pool 13 area. The public is invited to provide feedback and engage in discussion. After the presentation, partner agency representatives will be available to answer questions and gather input from the community.
