Common Chord will host its third annual QC Flavor Fest from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at its venue at 129 N. Main St. in downtown Davenport. The public is invited to sample locally grown food and drinks while raising funds for Common Chord’s music education initiatives.
Tickets are $45 per person and include access to 15 sampling stations from Quad Cities restaurants and food purveyors.
The evening also will feature live music from Chicago Farmer, a silent auction with more than 50 items, and other activities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the 2025 Quad Cities Favorite, with participating restaurants and food purveyors competing in sweet and savory categories for the coveted Golden Kazoo Award.
All proceeds directly support music education programs offered by Common Chord, which provides a variety of educational and enrichment programs year-round, aimed at providing access to musical experiences and building positive relationships among area youth. The programs include:
- InTune Music Mentorship program: Offered to students at the Friendly House, Scott County Family Y, St. Ambrose Children’s Campus, and the Lincoln Center in Davenport, as well as the YMCA and MLK Center in Rock Island, and the Boys & Girls Club in Moline. This program employs professional musician mentors to foster a love of music, build healthy mentoring relationships, develop stronger support networks for at-risk youth, and show positive paths forward in life.
- Acoustic Music Clubs: A music enrichment program for youth and adults with disabilities, providing a fun musical experience in partnership with the Blackhawk Area Special Education Center, ARC of the Quad Cities, Empowering Abilities, and Empower House.
- RiverCurrents: A flagship school program that teaches the history and evolution of American music along the Mississippi River. All Davenport Schools’ 5th graders participate, along with many other schools throughout the region.
- Kidstock and Ellis Kell Winter Blues Camps: These camps bring young musicians together to form bands, learn to collaborate, and perform in the Redstone Room.
- Let’s Band Together: This program provides free instrument loans to school bands and individuals.
“After such a strong community response, we are delighted to host the third year of QC Flavor Fest,” said Tyson Danner, executive director for Common Chord. “We are thankful to our community members who have stepped up to support our mission of building a stronger community through music and inspiring the next generation.”
