Employer event focuses on refugee workforce

IowaWORKS

IowaWORKS will host an employer event, Refugee Workforce – QC’s Best Kept Secret on Thursday, March 9, at its center at 1801-A E. Kimberly Road, Davenport.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon with doors opening at 8:30 a.m. for coffee. Walk-ins are welcome to attend.

The three-part event will inform Quad Cities employers on how to tap into the refugee and immigrant population in the area to build their workforce. Companies looking to increase diversity, hire hard-working staff – or help change another person’s life – are invited to attend.

The topics will include: Learning About Who Refugees Are, presented by World Relief; Making the Workplace Refugee-Friendly, presented by area employers who have hired refugees; and Investing in Long-Term Success, which will feature information from the organizations that support refugees.

Sponsors include IowaWORKS, World Relief Quad Cities, Iowa Bureau of Refugee Services and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact Grace Fitzpatrick at World Relief Quad Cities at gfitzpatrick@wr.org
