The Cambria Hotel, 5061 Competition Drive, Bettendorf, will soon get a $3 million renovation and be converted into a Holiday Inn Express.
The Cambria, part of Choice Hotels, is located near the TBK Bank Sports Complex and opened in 2019 with 112 rooms.
The hotel project was announced Wednesday morning, April 22, in a news release from the Frontier Hospitality Group. Frontier Hospitality Group is a hotel owner, operator and developer with headquarters in Bettendorf.
The Bettendorf hotel will undergo a $3 million renovation as a Holiday Inn Express by IHG brand, beginning with minor updates this summer and culminating in a full renovation later this year. This brand upgrade is expected to strengthen the hotel’s revenue stream and further support long-term stability. This conversion will become Frontier Hospitality Group’s third Holiday Inn Express property, according to the news release.
Holiday Inn Express is supported by IHG One Reward’s more than 170 million members.
The Cambria earned a “Ring of Honor” award, ranking in the top 1% of all hotels within its brand in 2024. Specifically, the Cambria is being recognized along with just two other Cambria hotels nationwide because of its ranking by hotel guests in the “intent to recommend” category, which denotes how strongly guests feel about the Cambria after having stayed at the hotel.
“The Holiday Inn Express brand is a perfect fit for our Quad Cities market. It is popular among both business and leisure travelers, and will be well known to sports families coming to the TBK Bank Sports Complex area,” said Dan Huber, CEO and owner of the Frontier Hospitality Group. “The Holiday Inn Express brand is well known to travelers crossing the country on Interstate 80 and is a familiar home away from home for millions of travelers.”
Many guest-favorite amenities will remain, including an indoor pool, fitness center, guest laundry, and a welcoming lobby and patio. With the conversion, guests will also enjoy complimentary breakfast — adding even more value and convenience. The same banquet space and in-house catering will continue to be available for group meetings and events. Altogether, the updates position the property to deliver a strong Holiday Inn Express experience and a standout representation of the brand in the Bettendorf community.
