For parents and families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a baby, whether before or shortly after birth, the pain can be overwhelming. The Butterfly Blessings Memorial Gathering, hosted by UnityPoint Health –Trinity, offers an opportunity to remember and cherish their baby’s memory, while providing support as they navigate their journey through grief.
The memorial ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Jardine Auditorium at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
A speaker who has personally endured the loss of a baby will share their story, offering insight into their journey through grief and the process of finding healing. There will also be music, prayer and a candle lighting ceremony.
“There’s a common misconception that a baby who wasn’t known won’t be missed as much, but that’s simply not true. This gathering is a way to honor the precious lives lost and the grief of those left behind,” says Courtney Richardson, chaplain, UnityPoint Health – Trinity. “Grieving is a personal journey, but many find that remembering their children, especially alongside others who have faced similar loss, brings comfort and healing.”
The event is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby before or shortly after birth, but registration is required. The event is free and welcomes individuals of all faiths and beliefs, Registration is required.
