Bettendorf tourney wins sports tourism grant

A Bettendorf youth softball tournament has been awarded a $13,000 Sports Tourism grant to create a video to showcase the fall event at the TBK Bank Sports Complex, Bettendorf.

The grant, awarded by the Enhance Iowa Board, will cover half the cost of the $26,000 project. The video will promote the TBK complex and amenities available to those who attend the Sept. 22-24 softball tournament.

The tournament will use digital advertising, website, social media and email advertising campaigns to promote the event to teams outside the Quad Cities.

Enhance Iowa’s Sports Tourism program provides financial assistance for projects that market or promote sporting events in Iowa. Eligible sporting events include professional, collegiate and amateur level sporting events.

Funding for the program was appropriated during the 2021 legislative session.

The Enhance Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities. To date, 99 Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants totaling $31.5 million have been awarded by the board.
