Bettendorf thanks veterans with free rides, ceremony

The City of Bettendorf is honoring those who have served in the military.

From Monday through Friday, Nov. 6-10, Bettendorf Transit is offering free fixed-route rides to all Veterans. For information on routes and schedules, go to www.bettendorf.org/Transit.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, a Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Bettendorf’s Veterans Memorial Park, 1645 23rd St. The event will include an opening prayer, a wreath-laying ceremony, honor guard and closing prayer.

The City’s Veterans Memorial is a lasting tribute to those in the community who have served our country or who are on active duty. The design features two pentagons that surround the American flag. The inner ring represents the five branches of service and the outer pillars of black granite bear the names of hundreds of service men and women.

If someone would like to add the name of their loved one, comrade or hero to Bettendorf’s Veterans Memorial, they can visit www.bettendorf.org/Veterans.
