The Bettendorf Public Library is launching a new mobile app to provide patrons access to library resources easier – such as virtual cards, a code scanner to see if a book of interest is in the library collection, and the ability to hold materials, register for events and reserve rooms.
“We are thrilled to provide a new and simple way for patrons to access library resources and services when it’s most convenient for them,” said Library Director Jillian Aschliman.
The app is designed to make accessing library services and managing a library account easier than ever before with several unique features: Virtual Library Card Patrons no longer have to wonder if they left their – or any family member’s – physical library card at home as they’re
turning onto Learning Campus Drive. This app allows users to add multiple cards and choose any of those “e-cards” to check out materials. The “e-cards” can also be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Patrons who see a book that interests them while shopping or visiting a family member or friend can use the app to scan the ISBN barcode on the back to find out if the library owns it, then stop by the library on their way home.
How to use the app
Patrons can use the app to quickly and easily find books, movies, music, and more. They also can use the app to search and reserve their favorite items and then pick them up at their convenience. The app also allows patrons to keep track of what they’ve borrowed and due dates.
Patrons can stay informed about upcoming events at the library and register right on the app. The app also allows patrons to reserve rooms for their own meetings or events.
The app will also allow access to digital content. They also will be able to stream videos, read local newspapers, get help with schoolwork, and more.
Patrons can find the Bettendorf Public Library App on the Apple Store or Google Play. The app will require the patron’s library card and PIN number, which should be the last four digits of the patron’s barcode or phone number. If further assistance is needed, they can call the library’s help desk at (563) 344-4175. For more information, visit www.bettendorflibrary.com/app.
