Bethany for Children & Families will be able to serve more than 400 at-risk children with dental care with the help of the American Dental Association.

An ADA grant awarded to the Moline-based agency will provide preventative dental kits which include: children’s toothbrushes and toothpaste, oral health education cards, goody bags, sealant, gloves, masks, fluoride varnish, prophy angles, prophy paste, plastic cups and gauge sponges.

Bethany will receive these supplies this month.

This donation supports Bethany’s Give Kids a Smile Mobile Dental Program, which provides exams and preventive care to children who do not have access to oral health care. Services are delivered in a dental bus that travels to schools throughout Iowa and Illinois. Licensed dental staff members provide services. Permission forms can be obtained from the child’s school nurse.

The agency hopes to serve as many as 1,000 kids between January and May.

Bethany for Children & Families is a nonprofit child welfare, mental health, community education and social services provider for children and families in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Offering 26 programs and services, the agency serves nearly 12,000 children and families annually.
