Army’s Joint Munitions Command has new commander

The Rock Island Arsenal’s Joint Munitions Command (JMC) has a new commander after Col. Ronnie D. Anderson Jr. took the reins from Col. Landis C. Maddox.

The leadership change took place during a change of command ceremony Thursday, June 1, at Memorial Park on the Rock Island Arsenal, according to a news release. Gen. Charles R. Hamilton, commanding general of the Army Materiel Command (JMC’s higher headquarters), officiated the event.

“His distinguished career has prepared him well for this moment,” Gen. Hamilton said.  

Col. Anderson, the 14th commander of JMC, has served for the past 31 years. He thanked his friends, mentors and loved ones for their support along the way a the ceremony, according to the release. 

“I have had an amazing circle of advisors, colleagues and mentors,” Col. Anderson said. “As I look toward the future as the leader of JMC, I am humbled by the extraordinary talent across the command and the accomplishments from the entire organization.

“Today is an azimuth check to make sure we’re on track moving forward,” he added. “We must stay focused on our priorities of people, readiness and modernization.”

Col. Anderson was born and raised in Franklin, Indiana, according to the release. He was commissioned as an Ordnance officer from Purdue University in 1996. He holds a Bachelor of science in industrial management from Purdue University, a Master of Science in logistics management from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in strategic studies from the Marine Corps University.

JMC is a tenant organization headquartered on the Rock Island Arsenal that provides the joint forces with munitions.
