“American Power Systems announced the product to coincide with Day 1 of Eurosatory because of the global nature of the show, which attracts 62,000 visitors from 150 countries in the security and defense arena,” Amy Lank, APS president and CEO, told the QCBJ in an email on Tuesday, June 18.

“Debuting the product at such a high visibility event has enabled APS program managers to have conversations with potential clients in an international setting because the vehicle is only available overseas.”

The kit created by APS was designed for model year 2022 and newer Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles with a 3.5L twin turbo petrol (gas) engine. The new dual alternator bracket kit allows users to add additional power to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 with minimal changes to the OE under-the-hood configuration.

The all-terrain Land Cruiser 300 Series was launched by Toyota Motor Corporation in August 2021. The Toyota Land Cruiser platform has a reputation for reliability, durability, and off-road performance, making it a popular transportation choice in rugged environments, the carmaker said.

Long history with Toyota

The downtown Davenport company has a long history of developing rugged high-output OE replacement alternators for multiple Toyota platforms. It includes previous Land Cruiser series, Hilux, Fortuner, Tacoma, Tundra, Hi Ace and Regius, among others.

“As security or defense vehicles, various Toyota platforms are often fitted with armor and/or special equipment such as anti-IED jammers, communication systems, satellite equipment, cooling systems and more that allows end-users to stay connected, collect information and even perform silent watch activities,” Ms. Lank said in a statement after the event.

“However, all this equipment adds to the vehicle’s weight and creates current draw that OEM systems cannot meet. Having this additional power available via a dual alternator set-up makes the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles mission-ready while helping end-users to stay safe in the field.”

In late 2022 APS launched its Toyota Land Cruiser 300 product line with 255- and 360-amp HPI alternators for both 3.3L diesel and 3.5L gas (petrol) engines. APS also offers high-idle kits for the 3.3L diesel and 3.5L gas engines.

To ensure their products meet APS’ threshold for superior quality and performance, all new products — including those for the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 — undergo a rigorous engineering process and testing to industry standards for durability, the company said.

APS is globally trusted

With more 2,000 vehicles currently in the field and 18,000 test miles logged at the Nevada Automotive Test Center, APS’ high output alternators withstand the harshest environments to deliver stable, dependable power, according to APS.

“There is a reason why APS is globally trusted,” Ms. Lank added. “We have a worldwide reputation for quality, innovation, and expertise. When our products hit the market, we feel confident in their performance because of how meticulous we are behind the scenes during their development.”
