A trio of Quad Cities nonprofits whose programs work with those undergoing cancer treatment, cancer survivors in recovery, and their families were awarded grant funding recently from Midwest Hope & Healing.
An endowed partner of the Moline Regional Community Foundation (MRCF), the foundation hosted the group for an awards presentation Tuesday, July 1. Midwest Hope & Healing announced a total of $9,000 for these recipients and their programs:
- Genesis Health Foundation; McKay Center for Breast Health; voucher program; $4,000.
- Two Rivers YMCA; LIVESTRONG at the Y, a program for cancer survivors; $2,000.
- Children’s Cancer Connection; Quad Cities camperships; $3,000.
“Midwest Hope and Healing was thrilled to grant three important organizations the money they need to continue serving individuals in our community with prevention screening and/or help along their cancer journey,” said Colleen Borts, who founded Midwest Hope & Healing in 2003 with a volunteer partner, Linda Watson.
“All three align well with our mission of hope and healing,” Ms. Borts said. “And we could not do what we do without the assistance of our wonderful partners at Moline Community Regional Foundation, so a huge thank you to them.”
MRCF President and CEO Paul Plagenz added “We are profoundly honored and proud to partner with the good people of Midwest Hope and Healing as they take action to support organizations caring for families and individuals effected by cancer.”
