Change is on its way to Blackhawk Bank & Trust’s Valley Center branch in Moline.

The Milan-based community bank announced Thursday, June 26, its plans for a full rebuild of the branch at 4100 44th Ave.

In a news release, the bank said the project reflects its enduring promise to provide modern, accessible, and community-first banking solutions – right where customers live, work, and do business. To allow for construction, the Valley Center branch will temporarily close beginning Saturday, Aug. 9.

“We’re thrilled to bring a fully rebuilt, modern branch to Valley Center,” Blackhawk Bank & Trust President Chris  Lemon said in a news release. “This project is about more than just brick and mortar – it’s about reaffirming our commitment to our community and delivering the kind of convenience and service our customers deserve.”

The redesigned location will incorporate updated technology, a welcoming layout, and updated amenities. Blackhawk did not disclose the cost of the project.

The bank has contracted Streamline Architects, East Moline, and Hodge Construction, Moline, to lead the project’s design and construction. Demolition of the existing branch is set to begin the week of Aug. 11, Erica Smith, Blackhawk’s communications director, told the QCBJ. The project is expected to be complete in Spring of 2026.

While the new branch is built, the bank’s current Valley Center employees will be stationed at other high-traffic branches to provide additional staffing, Ms. Smith said in an email. Once construction is complete they will return to the Valley Center location.

During demolition and construction, Valley Center customers are encouraged to use the on-site Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) for routine transactions or visit one of these nearby Blackhawk Bank  & Trust locations:

  • 70th Street Branch, 3600 70th St., Moline.
  • East Moline Branch, 1315 Avenue of the Cities.
  • Rock Island Branch, 4610 38th St.

In addition to in-person options, customers can manage their accounts through online and mobile banking and its growing network of ITMs, which offer 24/7 ATM access in addition to live teller support from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Founded in 1961, Blackhawk Bank & Trust operates a total of 17 branches across Illinois and Iowa, serving Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois, and Scott County in Iowa. It offers a full range of personal and business  banking, lending, and wealth management services.
