Bettendorf police wear special patch for Mental Health Awareness

The Bettendorf Police Department is marking Mental Health Awareness Month in May by again featuring a special patch on officers’ uniforms.

For the second consecutive year, the department is partnering with The Gray Matters Collective, a local nonprofit, to promote awareness and raise funds for its mental health initiatives.

The patch, designed in 2024 collaboration with Code 4 Public Safety Emblems of Davenport, incorporates a green ribbon for mental health awareness and a purple/turquoise ribbon for suicide prevention. At its center is a “tree brain” symbol, illustrating the different functions of the brain necessary for a healthy life. The phrases “I will listen” and “You are not alone” surround the symbol.

The public also can support the cause by pre-ordering patches for $10 and apparel featuring the design at www.bettendorf.org/PatchStore. The online store, operated by LogoPro in Bettendorf, will close at noon, Monday, May 12. Patches also will be available at the Bettendorf Police Department, 1609 State St., throughout May. All proceeds will benefit The Gray Matters Collective.

“The Bettendorf Police Department stands with our community,” stated Bettendorf’s new Police Chief Doug Scott. “We are committed to raising awareness about mental health and supporting those in need.”
