Illinois QC unemployment drops to 5% in March, IDES reports

Nonfarm payrolls in Illinois increased by 4,100, or 0.1%, over the month to reach a new record high of 6,172,500 payroll jobs in April, the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) announced.

The unemployment rate over the year decreased in 11 of Illinois’ metro areas, including the Quad Cities, and increased in one for the year ending March 2025, the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) announced.
