Big Brothers Big Sisters announces 36th annual Plant Sale

Flower, plant pre-orders deadline is Monday

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley, along with presenting sponsors Iowa American Water, Mel Foster Co. and Solutions Management Group, have announced the return of its 36th annual plant sale.

Customers are invited to pre-order online now through Monday, April 21 at PlantSale.org. While the retail sale will be one day only on Friday, May 9.

“The Plant Sale has been a great tradition for our organization for many years,” said Jay Justin, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Quad Cities. “We’re excited to host our 36th event this year and hope the community will continue to support our mission through this annual event.”

The nonprofit said the plant sale plays a vital role in supporting its mission to provide mentorship opportunities to local youth. Pre-ordering is the best option, as limited quantities will be available for in-person purchases on May 9.

Customers with pre-orders of $75 or more qualify for free delivery. BBBS will hold a curbside pickup and provide delivery services on Wednesday and Thursday, May 7 and 8.

Retail will be limited to one day, Friday, May 9, at Time Bank at NorthPark Tower in Davenport. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., or while supplies last.

All proceeds from the Plant Sale benefit BBBSMV’s youth mentoring programs, which pair local children with adult mentors to help them realize their potential. The sale provides a meaningful way for the community to invest in both their garden and local youth.

“Every purchase not only helps beautify local gardens but also provides mentorship opportunities for young people in the Quad Cities,” said Mr. Justin. “It’s a simple yet impactful way for people to give back and make a difference.”
