The American Rental Association (ARA) is moving its trade association headquarters from Moline to Dallas.The ARA, which has been based for decades at 1900 19th St., is an international trade association for equipment and event rental operations and manufacturers and the suppliers of rental equipment. The ARA headquarters has been in Moline for 70 years.The organization’s 19,072-square-foot headquarters building, located near the intersection of Avenue of the Cities and Interstate 74, is currently for sale for about $2.2 million after the ARA recently announced it has started the process of moving its headquarters. (Go here for more information on the sale.)“After an exhaustive, nationwide search process, the American Rental Association is strategically positioning itself for the future needs of its members and its workforce by beginning a headquarters transition to Dallas. This transition will be a gradual process, taking years to fully complete, ensuring the least disruption for current staff,” according to an ARA news release dated Sunday, March 9.ARA officials were not available Monday, March 17, to give more details to the QCBJ on the move to Dallas or a detailed timeline for the transition.In the release, ARA said it will begin filling staff vacancies with professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “When a certain threshold of staff volume is concentrated” in Texas, the ARA will lease space in the Dallas area, according to the ARA.“Moline has served the association so well since it began in 1955. We are proud of the legacy the staff in Moline has created and we’re looking forward to creating a place in Texas where staff and members can gather together for decades to come,” Robert H. Pedersen, ARA board president and president/CEO of A Tool Shed, Inc., in Santa Cruz, California, said in the release.“We know that is how the best work of the association is done – in conjunction with members and each other, in a dynamic work space.” The ARA headquarters building was listed recently for sale on various real estate websites. Asking sale price: $2.195 million.
Building interior details: The two-story interior includes several private offices, conference rooms, collaboration space and open work environment, large storage room with overhead door, large outdoor patio/picnic area and a diesel backup power generator, server room with independent air conditioning.
Land: Building located on 1.86 acres.
Parking: 65-space parking lot.
Year built: 1980.
When the building is sold, the ARA indicated it may have dedicated office work space for staff in Moline for as long as needed before the move to Dallas.The ARA has about 64 employees at its headquarters in Moline. The central goal of the organization is to support the success of 12,000 members across 52 countries and advance the rental industry through strategic pillars that include education, technology, market intelligence, consumer awareness and workforce development.
