
CLINTON, Iowa – Clinton Hometown Pride is seeking nominations for inductees into its fifth annual Clinton County Walk of Fame.
The public is encouraged to nominate successful and accomplished individuals with significant ties to Clinton County.
The Clinton County Walk of Fame provides visitors and residents with an interesting and innovative way to experience the impact Clinton County residents have made on the world. The Walk of Fame also serves to give inspiration to all generations from the community and others to make a difference and shed a positive light on Clinton County through their achievements.
Individuals can be nominated in these five categories: Fine Arts, Professional Achievement, Military, Athletics and Humanitarian Acts. Honorees will be inducted during a celebration Sunday, Sept. 28, at Eagle Point Lodge in Clinton.
The public is invited to submit nominations through Saturday, March 1.
A nomination form, along with more information on the previous inductees, can be found at Clinton Hometown Pride’s website. A physical copy also can be downloaded. Nominations must be submitted to Grow Clinton at 721 S. 2nd St, Clinton, IA 52732, Attn: Matt Parbs.
A nominee for the Walk of Fame must have a significant tie to Clinton County. They may be born in or have lived in Clinton County, and have made an impact locally or elsewhere in the nation or abroad. The nominee should have values and characteristics that demonstrate a significant positive impact in their field or to Clinton County.
Nominations must be fully completed and among other information, include an essay (maximum 500 words) that provides persuasive evidence and concisely explains how the nominee fits the criteria and should be selected. Additional materials to support the nomination essay –newspaper articles, awards, etc. – are encouraged.
Selections will be made on merit, not endorsements. A nominator is limited to nominating a maximum of three individuals in an annual nomination cycle.
If the nominee is chosen, Clinton Hometown Pride board members will notify the nominee or their family of their selection. They will be honored at the induction ceremony and reception; and an award will be presented to the person or a representative, along with a permanent public display.
