Ascentra Credit Union, headquartered in Bettendorf, has committed to giving $75,000 to the Quad Cities Community Foundation’s (QCCF) Center for Nonprofit Excellence over the next three years.
In a Wednesday, Oct. 9 news release, Ascentra said its gift will help the new center grow and expand its reach into the region’s nonprofit community.
Launched in the fall of 2023, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence is dedicated to strengthening the Quad Cities’ nonprofit sector as a connector, capacity builder and champion for regional nonprofits and philanthropy. Its dedication will build and reinforce the systems, structures, cultures, skills, resources and power needed to serve the community with excellence, Ascentra said.
“The Quad Cities community is filled with committed organizations dedicated to making a difference,” Linda Andry, Ascentra’s president and CEO, said in a news release. “Ascentra is excited to support this Center for Nonprofit Excellence because it will lift local nonprofits to the next level by playing a central role to connect them through networking and learning groups, to provide resources to grow and give the needed support to enhance the nonprofit sector for the Quad Cities community.”
The startup organization is led by Director Daisy Moran and an administrative assistant. Ms. Moran reports to the foundation’s vice president of Grantmaking and Community Initiatives, who will be deeply involved in the development and work of the center.
Lifting nonprofit sector
“With this incredible gift, Ascentra is lifting the entire nonprofit sector,” Sue Hafkemeyer, QCCF’s president and CEO, said in Ascentra’s release. “The Community Foundation’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence helps nonprofit organizations grow and serve the community in the best way possible. Thanks to this genuinely transformative contribution, the center will be able to expand our workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities and bring more nonprofits into this collaborative program.”
The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is guided by an advisory committee made up of leaders from the nonprofit and philanthropic organizations that it serves. For more information on its mission and the advisory committee, go here.
