Parents looking for a “Not So Scary” Halloween celebration are invited to join the Quad City Botanical Center’s 9th annual Not So Scary Halloween Walk from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Oct. 25-27.

“Dress up your ghosts and goblins for a “Not So Scary” lighted walk through the gardens after dark, the center located at 2525 Fourth Ave., Rock Island, said in a news release.

“Bring your flashlights and explore the nooks and crannies of the Sun Garden, outdoor graveyard pond, and magical fairy garden. New this year, journey through the carnivorous plant zone – featuring oversized, hungry plants! Search for spiders, bats, jack-o-lanterns, and toads as you wander down the darkened pathways.”

Attendees also will get a glimpse of the Halloween train in the site’s popular train garden, tour the mini-spooky town display, and make Halloween crafts.

“It’s not so scary in our gardens, making this event great for all ages,” the organization promises.

The event kicks off with Member-Only Night from 5:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24. There, youths will receive a special Members Only night goodie bag while supplies last. Attendees can RSVP but walk-ups are accepted. Show your membership card at check-in. (Free admission includes FunBundle members.)

The walk also includes a Saturday, Oct. 26-only Boo-gie down Halloween concert from Common Chord who will be performing two sets that night, beginning at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Not So Scary Walk takes place indoors and outdoors, so organizers urge attendees to dress accordingly for the weather. All children will receive a bag for treat stops throughout the gardens.
